Old School Studio Gear

The Korg Triton has been in my go to list of studio gear for more than 10 years now. Before I got into really making music on computers I spent hours working with in the sequencer of the popular Korg Triton Workstation. I still feel strongly that this was one of the best keyboards Korg has ever made.  The touch screen technology used was years before the Apple Ipad and you could find sounds with in seconds.

Vocal Recording

Spent the night recording vocals. Great work by vocalist Travis Mendez. Travis does really tight double work so we ended up stacking a lot of tracks in sections. Its always a great feeling to watch your ideas brought to life.

A Little Studio DIY

I have been slowly giving my studio a makeover. This weekends project involved working on a new tabletop. The project is simple but will take me at least another weekend to finish because I need to find a certain type of molding. When the completed tabletop is done I’m going to post the information online for any one else interested in a bit of recording studio DIY.

A Look At Dave Grohl’s Home Studio

A quick tour of Dave Grohl’s Studio.
(Total reading time 1 minute)

I came across this youtube video last night while browsing twitter.  Foo Fighter and Nirvana start Dave Grohl takes us on a candid tour of his studio and talks about how the home studio was used to record their last album. The control they used for mixing was not perfect, the room they used to record drums was nothing more then an almost empty sheet rocked garage, and even the drums used wasn’t to great. And yet as Dave talks to us we hear how it was the crap, the dirt, the small imperfections that make their sound what it is.

Studio Time
(Total reading time 1 min)

It has been a long mostly lonely week in the studio. Solitude with the studio walls can only mean one thing. Intense work and focus. I got a bunch of new cues done this week for a music production libraries on the east coast. In between writing for that project I got some demos into to a few new companies and final began collaborating with some of the great talent around me. I can’t wait to see what next week brings.

Special thanks to Godzillest and Renee Stakey for all their hard work in this weeks projects.

You can take a listen to one of the songs in progresss on yesterdays post, called Another Day Gone.

If your just into listening to beats then you should can check my post from a few days ago.

Sorry for the blurriness of the picture. The lighting was bad and my poor Iphone 3GS is getting a bit old now.

Thats all I have to say
