This is a cue i did about a month ago. Its short but one of my most favorite things I done recently. I hope you listening. It brings out feelings of inspiration, honesty, courage and passion. I was watching the olympics almost every night at this time. It shouldn’t be to hard to hear. Enjoy the music. Would love your comments.

The music was done using Logic Studio 8. The sounds used are coming from Logic’s EXS24 sampler. Kontakt 3, and a few Garage Band Strings from the Orchestral Jam Pack. There are also a few sounds in there from my own special custom library I have created through the years that I use in the EXS24. The EXS24 does not have as many functions as Kontakt but it much more CPU friendly.
This a piece of music I did about two months ago. When I wrote it It reminded me of the trailer for “The Secret”. The Taiko drums on this peice are a blend of my own custom samples and the Kontakt ProjectSam True Strike Drums. As a Logic Studio user I rely heavily on the EXSmkII sampler but in the last year I have grown to love Native Instruments Kontakt and Kore Player more and more.

Music for film trailers grabs our attention. It pulls us in and often combined with the editing makes the movie look a lot better then it is. I have been studying this style of music for a while now. The two things that stand out the most are the energy and the dramatic changes the music can go through in such a small amount of time. The music is usually made to follow the highlights of the film. The music can showcase drama, high energy, emotion, action and power all in 60 seconds. Below is one of my takes on “Trailer Music”

I also edited a short video together using some of my favorite quotes about music.
Another Day Gone (Total reading time less then 1 minute)
I’ve been in the studio writing this week trying to turn out a large amount of work. Here is a short listen to one f the tracks I currently have in production. The mix is rough because I am still waiting for the verses to be finished but the chorus vocals are done. You can see from the screen shot below there are many vocals used in the chorus of the track. There is a male voice, which is myself, and a female voice provided by Renee Stakey. There is also use of all sorts of vocal effects and other goodies. I love to do vocal production with talented singers. Strong vocal production really brings a track to life. At this point all of the vocals are being overdubbed to a 2 track of the instrumental which is in another logic session. When all the vocals are done every thing will be combined into the final session for the arrangement and mix.
Hope you enjoy. This is just a taste of the finished product. If you have any questions or comments please leave them below.
NBA Highlights From 1987
(Total Reading time less then 1 minute)
The cue used in this video is from a reggaetone project I did a few years ago. The cue it self has been used in many places. I came across this video while randomly browsing basket videos from the NBA channel. You know your write a lot of music when you randomly start hearing on videos you find on youtube.
In 2001 I had my first piece of music used in a television show on MTV called Undressed. The song “Let Me Hit That” was produced earlier in the year by myself and written by rapper Seldom Seen.
The production was done almost entirely on a 61 key Korg Triton and transferred to Protools 5.1 LE running on an Apple G4. It is always amazing to look back and see how far the technology has grown in such a short time.
New Beats (Total reading time less then 1 minute, Listening time 3 minutes)
A Quick tast of some beats I have been working on for future use in television shows and movies. Now that I have found an HTML5 compatible audio player I hope to post these little listening tastes more often. Enjoy.
All of the production for these tracks was completed in Logic Studio 9 using the onboard plugins as well as native instruments komplete.
The smooth Jazz track I began at the end of the week is almost done. I am in the studio tweaking the little things. For those of you that have been following me as work progresses on the track, thanks again. So here is one last version of it before the final which should be done tomorrow. If anyone is interested I will actually go through the logic session and show what I have going on. If your into songwriting, engineering, and or production and have any questions about this let me know.
