Thinking Warm

It is not unbearably cold yet here in NY but I can’t help thinking this time last week I was in Florida enjoying the warmth of the sun.

Watching The Sunrise

Last week I was able to get away for a few days. I am not a morning person so it is rare that i see the sun rise. I woke up early friday morning and went to the beach with my wife and father in law to watch the sunrise and go for a short run. It was beautiful. I really need to work on getting up earlier and living near a beach.

The Cuban Sandwich

Had my first obe of these today at a cuban cafe just off Lincoln Road in Miami, FL

Cuban Bread, Ham, Mustard, Pickles, Roast Pork and Melted Swiss Cheese. It was pretty damn good. I still like the Cuban steak sandwich the best but I’d take this over a ghetto deli sub any day. I finished it off with a Cafe Colado

Swimming Video

I had my wife catch me swimming in the pool today. It was pretty strange to see my  self swim. This is the first time I have actually seen myself swim since taking a swimming class at my local community college. Nick DeNezzo  was an awesome teacher. Of course I still have a great deal of work to do. I have been trying to get to the pool between 2 and 4 times a week, and I am almost to the point where I can knock out a few laps. Finding he right pace seems to be hard. If you are a great swimmer and can offer any suggestions I’d love to hear them. Just drop them in the comments section below.

Things I Am Thankful For

Just a few things I am thankful for.

My amazing wife.
The opportunity to pursue a career I love.
The freedom to explore life.
My health
My family, father, mother and brothers.
The great friends and godchildren they have given me.
The things I have learned in my past both good and bad that help me to be who I am.
The awesome new Trek bike i bought last week.
The great swimming instruction I got last month.
This great Florida weather.
Every Opportunity, experience, and moment is a chance to make your life better, all you have to do is be grateful for it.

And my amazing wife again. I am so thankful for her she made the list twice.

Skipping This Years Turkey Trot

In 2009 and 2011 my wife and participated  in the Garden City Turkey Trot. The 5 mile run on thanksgiving morning was a great way to burn off calories before the holiday binge eating began. This year we skipped the turkey trot so that we could be with family. Since the weather is nice here in Florida I plan to burn some calories at the beach instead, if not swimming in the pool before the turkey is served.

Enjoy your food but remember not to over do it. Get some exercise scheduled in so you do not feel guilty while eating.
